Linde Corp. moves up the list of ENR’s list of specialty contractors

A Few Bright Spots in Otherwise Uncertain Times

The McGraw-Hill Construction Analytics/ENR Top 600 Specialty Contractors list according to national revenue featured 72 firms headquartered in the Mid-Atlantic region, 10 fewer than the previous year.  These firms recorded $8.13 billion in revenue for 2011 (See tables on Page SP 4.)

Some Mid-Atlantic specialty contractors benefited from increased construction spending in markets such as residential and mixed-use development, power/energy, healthcare and manufacturing construction.  In fact, a few specialty contractors recorded impressive growth.  Freestate Electrical Services Co. jumped from 154 in 2010 to 89 in 2011, reporting a more than50% increase in revenues in that same time frame with projects such as the Defense Health Headquarters renovation in Falls Church, Va.

Other notable jumps in revenue include Shockey Precast Group of Winchester, Va.  The firm jumped 71 spots to 168 with $97.45 million in revenue, up from $59.8 million in 2010.  Linde Corp. of Pittston, Pa,. jumped 93 spots from 309 to 216, increasing revenue to $72.14 million in 2011 from $45 million in 2010.  The biggest year-to year revenue increase came from R.W.Warner of Frederick, Md.  The firm jumped from 412 to 255 by more than doubling annual revenues to $62.6 million in 2011.
