Linde honored to judge in The William’s United Way Cook-off
THE WILLIAMS UNITED WAY MARCELLUS COOK-OFF
It was a day for the Barbecue Kings to rule!
September 13th was the 2nd Annual Williams United Way Marcellus Cook-Off in Nicholson. 500 hungry, hearty carnivores showed up to gorge on ribs, brisket and pulled pork.
Chef Alan and Helen Humphreys address the chefs. This is a major event for Williams, whose CEO Alan Armstrong came to town just for the Cook-off. Williams is a major energy company and since they bought the Transco line in 1995, they have been one of the largest natural gas transporters in the United States.
25 teams representing various companies in the Marcellus region competed for best in show. For the tasters, every stop was a treat. This was big! Each team was responsible for producing 400 samples.
46 companies signed up as judges and Linde was there in the Pulled Pork category. We combined our taste buds and chose the team from TRC/RES. Sadly, they didn’t win. The pulled pork honor went to Shakabuku (also delicious!). Cabot won Ribs and the United Way Category. Williams Bar-B-Que Brew Crew won Brisket, Grand Champion & People’s Choice.
Bill Jones of the Wyoming Valley United Way and Bill DesRosiers of Cabot share a moment. The big winners, of course, were the United Way chapters of the Wyoming Valley, Wyoming County, and Susquehanna County. Williams raised $80,000, twice as much as last year!
This was a very successful day for Helen Humphreys who handles all of Williams’ communications in the Northeast.
Well done Helen!
