Paul FedorVice President of Maintenance
Paul Fedor joined Linde in 1988 and became Vice President of Maintenance in 1999. He’s tasked with ensuring that Linde’s $20 million fleet of sophisticated construction equipment is kept in peak operating condition. He supervises Linde’s two maintenance and support facilities and at project sites, directing nearly 50 skilled employees in all facets of field and long-term repairs. This includes daily computerized repair logs, engine and mechanical work, hydraulic and electrical system repairs, body work, parts, painting, servicing, welding and fabricating, plumbing and inventory.
Most people say maintenance is an expense. But Scott is ‘old school’ and we can get twice to three times the hours out of equipment because we maintain it ourselves. ‘Old school’ is working. Most people look at maintenance as an expense, but Linde has realized that a good maintenance team, regularly servicing and providing preventative maintenance can really extend the life of your equipment and save a lot of money over the long term. It's just common sense.
Paul has also been a point man in the growth of Linde’s fleet of equipment. “In a sense we were lucky with timing,” he says. “The Marcellus shale boom happened just after residential housing in the south had crashed. We were able to get some great deals on lightly used equipment.” Over recent years, our fleet has tripled and maintenance staff has doubled.
