Linde Folks Turn Out for Family Day at Knoebles

WVIA FAMILY DAY AT KNOEBELS GROVE

Saturday, May 9th was Family Day at Knoebels and Linde people came from all over to Elysburg, PA for fun, rides and unseasonably warm weather. Knoebels has been known as the largest free admission park in the United States for decades.  Now nearly 90 years old, Knoebels boasts over 60 rides, two wooden roller coasters, and a carousel more than 100 years in age.

Every year local public TV station WVIA sponsors Family Day at Knoebels.  Linde Corporation has been a generous donor to public TV, and each year as a reward Linde gets passes to ride the rides at Knoebels.

There are rides old and new for kids of all ages.  Here Cadance is coming down the Old Fashioned Slide.

The Ball Crawl is always fun.  From left are pictured Gina, Abby, Rider and Cadance.

Knoebels has 6 roller coasters and some are pretty famous.  Here a group of kids are enjoying Twister.  This is one of two wooden coasters and has been at the park since 1999.

The Impulse is the newest coaster at Knoebels, just 2 years old.  The Impulse is a steel coaster with an initial rise just over 100 feet, a cobra roll, vertical inversion and an inline twist.

For the less daring there are many other diversions.  The Balloon Race is a nice alternative.

And where else can you get a view like this?  The Knoebels Ferris Wheel offers a bird’s eye view for miles.

However, for those looking to keep their feet on the ground, it’s difficult to go wrong with a round of mini-golf.

And every park needs a mascot.  Here, from the left, Sierra, Amanda, Sophie and Hailey are joined by Kozmo Knoebel.  Kozmo’s in the middle.
