LINDE’S ANNUAL SAFETY MEETING & HEALTH FAIR
It is the one day of the year when all Linde people are in the same place at the same time. February 12th was the annual Linde Corporation Safety Meeting and Health Fair, held at the Woodlands Inn & Resort. Linde’s favorite photographer Kurt Salonick was on hand to shoot the proceedings. Linde Safety Director Ed Bernard led the day as he has since he joined Linde in 2002. His lineup of speakers included extensive talk about gas industry safety, pipeline safety, compliance expectations, DOT compliance and substance abuse. In addition, some of the larger oil companies which employ Linde have their own outlook on safety issues.
The first speaker was Bryan Adkins, the E&C Safety Rep from Williams Midstream, one of our major clients. Bryan was making his first address at the Linde Safety Day. He addressed the group on the Williams way of doing business, speaking at length about Williams’ Safety Expectations and Culture.
John Sabo is an Oil & Gas Risk Control Officer who represented the Travelers Companies and spoke about Gas Industry Safety.
Joe Ciampi is Linde’s Site Specific Safety Coordinator and a genuine character. He spoke about pipeline safety.
Linde Safety Day runs at a steady pace with generous breaks, including plenty of time for lunch.
The afternoon session began with Gary Mauer of UGI Utilities. He addressed the group about compliance expectations.
Next was another UGI representative, Damage Prevention Coordinator Allen Fowler. Linde has traditionally done lots of work for UGI and this upcoming season promises more of the same. Allen addressed the issue of working safely around natural gas facilities.
Substance Abuse is an ever-present topic for all modern Americans, but especially for people who work in potentially dangerous industries. Larry Laurynas of Counseling and Wellness Services has been a staple at Linde’s annual meeting for more than 20 years. He was on hand again this year.
The final presentation of the day came from Thomas Kepping, Motor Carrier Enforcement Officer of the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission. He spoke at length about DOT compliance.
Linde Corporation President Scott Linde gave the customary final presentation of the day, delivering his annual “State of Linde Corporation” address. In the past 5 years Linde has expanded our workforce by double to handle the increased Marcellus shale activity. In addition, we are undertaking more utility projects as more miles of cement and cast iron pipes are scheduled for replacement, especially in the Allentown area.
The final undertaking of the day was the awarding of service certificates to Linde people who have passed milestones working for the company.
