Roasting Bernie McGurl of The Lackawanna River Corridor Association (LRCA)
p>September 27th was a special night for Bernie McGurl and the Lackawanna River Corridor Association (LRCA). It was the 25th anniversary celebration of the LRCA and the man who has been with the group from its birth—Bernie McGurl.

Bernie co-founded the LRCA back in 1987 and has been with the group in one capacity or another ever since. He was the voluntary president from 1989-91, when he became the LRCA’s Executive Director, the position he holds today.
Bernie and the LRCA are close to the Linde heart. As you can see from photos from that night, our President Scott Linde has been with the group for decades as a financial supporter, property facilitator and river trash picker.
LRCA’s mission is to involve citizens of our watershed with conservation and stewardship of the River, its tributaries and water resources.
Five goals define our mission:
1. Clean up the River environment;
2. Aid in the development of the 40-mile Lackawanna River Heritage Trail;
3. Create partnerships among government, businesses and community groups promoting conservation and recreation;
4. Develop partnerships with schools, universities, and the general public to promote environmental and conservation education to better understand our relationship with the local environment;
5. Advocate for the conservation of open space and natural habitat throughout the watershed.

The following video is part of the roast from that night. Although we had good fun at his expense, the message to Bernie is the one we repeated so often that evening.
BERNIE, WE LOVE YA…!
